Congratulating our new and renewed Canada Research Chairs
General Internal Medicine, Respirology
Three researchers from the Department of Medicine have been awarded a new or renewed Canada Research Chair (CRC) in the latest round. Established in 2000, the prestigious federal program aims to recruit and retain top researchers and scholars in the country. It invests more than $300 million annually to enable world-class researchers to reach new heights in disciplines spanning engineering, health sciences, humanities and social sciences.
There are two types of CRC:
Tier 1 Chairs, tenable for seven years and renewable once, are for outstanding researchers acknowledged by their peers as world leaders in their fields
Tier 2 Chairs, tenable for five years and renewable once, are for exceptional emerging researchers, acknowledged by their peers as having the potential to lead in their field
Congratulations to Dr. Margaret Herridge, Professor in the Division of Respirology and Clinician Scientist at University Health Network, on being awarded a new Tier 1 CRC in Critical Illness Outcomes and the Recovery Continuum and to Dr. Fahad Razak, Associate Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinician Scientist at Unity Health Toronto, on being awarded a Tier 2 CRC in Healthcare Data and Analytics.
Additionally, congratulations to Dr. Angela Cheung, Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine and Clinician Scientist at University Health Network, on being awarded a renewed Tier 1 CRC in Musculoskeletal and Postmenopausal Health.
