Dr. Tandon, is an Assistant Professor and has been a member of the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine, Division of Respirology since July 2009 and a well-recognized teacher. We look forward to her leadership.

Linda Rabeneck, American College of Gastroenterology 2016 Berk/Fise Clinical Achievement Award
This award is presented to a single member/fellow each year in recognition of distinguished contributions to clinical gastroenterology over a significant period of time. Specific criteria include, in addition to a career of distinguished clinical practice of gastroenterology, contributions in patient care, clinical science, clinical education, technological innovation, and public and community service. This award recognizes Linda's contributions in the field of colorectal cancer screening particularly, through both her significant research contributions in this area as well as leadership positions including Vice President, Prevention & Cancer Control at Cancer Care Ontario and as Chair of the Colorectal Cancer Screening Committee of the World Endoscopy Association.

Terumi Izukawa, Annual Teaching Award for Outstanding Medical Education 2016 – Baycrest Health Sciences
Terumi Izukawa has made extensive educational contributions to geriatric medicine at Baycrest, the University of Toronto and nationally for 25 years. She has exhibited sustained excellence in teaching residents, fellows and medical students. As the University of Toronto, Division of Geriatric Medicine, resident program director (2000-2009) and fellowship director (2000 to 2016), Terumi has been an exceptional teacher and mentor for numerous residents and fellows. Terumi has also been a member of the Royal College of Physicians examining Board in Geriatric Medicine since 2011 and has provided leadership to the Royal College of Physicians National Geriatric Medicine Specialty Committee since 2000.

Jill Tinmouth, Embedded Scientist Award
This award is designed to provide protected time for early and mid-career regulated health professionals working in a health system setting enabling them to conduct original research that is relevant and responsive to the health system where they are embedded. Jill was funded in her capacity as lead scientist for Ontario’s colorectal cancer screening program, ColonCancerCheck. Her research program focuses on interventions to improve participation and follow-up after an abnormal screening test as well as on the quality of colonoscopy in Ontario

The Medical University of Vienna

Steven Narod, Adjunct professorship, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, The Medical University of Vienna
Steven Narod received this honourary appointment in recognition of his long-standing collaboration with the university. He has collaborated with scientists including Dr. Christian Singer, a gynaecologist and professor who studies breast cancer, for more than a decade.

Wilson Centre, University Health Network

Dr. Lisa Richardson, recipient of the Wilson Centre Investigator Award in Indigenous Medical Education at University Health Network for a three year term, effective September 1, 2016.
Lisa Richardson is a Wilson Centre researcher, clinician-educator in the University of Toronto's Division of General Internal Medicine, and practices at the University Health Network. Her academic interest lies in the integration of postcolonial, indigenous and feminist perspectives into medical education. She is faculty co-Lead in Indigenous Medical Education for the University of Toronto's medical school and is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine. She is a 2014-2016 AMS Phoenix Fellow for her work related to the creation and integration of cultural safety teaching into the medical school curriculum. She is an active member of the Indigenous Physicians’ Association of Canada and is on the planning committee for the annual Indigenous Health Conference. She is also a member of the University of Toronto’s Steering Committee whose role is to advise the University about how to implement the calls to action from Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
