Topic: Language or Languages? The Importance of Linguistic Differences for Neurology and Psychiatry
Educational Objectives:
1. To understand how specific features of different languages can influence the manifestation of aphasia and dementia and are relevant for assessment and treatment
2. To recognise different ways in which language use, preferences, and abilities of multilinguals can change in healthy ageing and dementia
3. To appreciate the way in which language choice can contribute to emotional regulation in multilinguals (in disease as well as in the psychotherapy)
