Teams of emergency medicine residents gathered at Sunnybrook to compete in an ultrasound skills competition, which included doing a blindfolded echo, a FAST exam using a long pole, and identifying coins in a water bath. The residents also tested their ultrasound procedural skills with vascular access, lumbar puncture, and knowledge of advanced image interpretation. The top 2 teams then had a showdown with the winners taking home special Sonogames awards.

The turnout and feedback from the residents was amazing. The winning team (David Smith, Kealin Wong and Wes Armstrong) will be representing Toronto at the upcoming CAEP Sonogames in Calgary!

A big thanks to Dr. Rob Simard for organizing the event, as well as the other Sunnybrook faculty that volunteered their time to run it (Drs. Martin Betz, Melanie Baimel, Mike Romano, Dennis Cho, and ultrasound fellows Karine Badra and Alex Hart). We hope to make this an annual event and look forward to next year!
