Teaching Effectiveness Scores (TES)

TES for Department of Medicine Faculty

Teachers in the Department of Medicine can view their TES on the POWER system at quarterly intervals for the current academic session and at any time for past academic sessions. A minimum of 3 completed teaching evaluations are required before teachers can view their reports.  (Department TES Protocol

Teachers needing their TES for the current academic session for promotion, review, or other academic requirements may request a report be forwarded from the office of the Director of Postgraduate Education. Requests are made by contacting the Department Research Officer.

 

Appeals: The Department uses a formal appeals process for hearing teachers’ concerns about their own evaluations. Teachers who wish to make an appeal should forward a written request and rationale to the Department Research Officer. An appeals review committee convenes and adjudicates twice annually regarding submitted appeal requests.

TES - Current Academic Session
During the current academic session, teachers can view their TES at quarterly intervals for one week periods provided that a minimum of 3 teaching evaluations have been submitted. These weekly periods coincide with the beginning of the first rotation in each quarter for the months of

1. October
2. January
3. April

Beginning July 6 th , evaluations are available for viewing for the previous session.

TES - Previous Academic Sessions
Teachers can view all TES for years preceding the current session at any time provided that 3 or more teaching evaluations have been submitted for the session. Academic years are selected using the 'Training Session' filter on the POWER system.

2nd quarter January rotation Jan 7 - 14, 2013
3rd quarter April rotation Apr 15 - 22, 2013

 

  1. Log in to POWER at https://pgme.med.utoronto.ca/power/index.cfm
  2. Enter your PIN/Password. Forgotten PIN/Passwords can be recovered using the link on the POWER login page .
  3. On the blue menu, click ‘Effectiveness Scores’.
  4. Select the academic year you wish to view using the 'Training Session' filter.  If there are less than 3 evaluations, a message indicating that there are too few completed evaluations will display.
  5. For assistance with using the system, contact the POWER help desk .
