Our Teaching Hospitals

Core Internal Medicine residents will participate in a range of rotations at our four main teaching hospitals.  While all of the sites provide an excellent learning experience, each hospital specializes in different areas of health care. Please read below for the unique features of each site.

Mount Sinai Hospital (MSH) is a full service teaching hospital located on University Avenue in downtown Toronto. Some services cover MSH and University Health Network (UHN) in a joint rotation. These include: Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Haematology/Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Medical Consults, Neurology, Respirology and Rheumatology.

St. Michael's Hospital (SMH) is a full service teaching hospital located in the heart of Toronto. Known as 'The Urban Angel', SMH has developed a well-earned reputation for treating all members of society with dignity and respect. The Inner-city Health focus of the hospital, together with its unwavering commitment on teaching and collegiality, have given St. Mike's an international reputation as a wonderful place to learn and practice Internal Medicine.

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) is a fully affiliated academic health sciences centre situated in the heart of North Toronto. Our hospital vision is to transform healthcare. We are a full service hospital with strategic priorities in Trauma, Cancer, Cardiac and Stroke Care, and Perinatal Care. We offer rotations in all the medical specialties, and in addition offer unique experiences in clinical pharmacology, dermatology, hypertension, and obstetrical medicine.
