PGY2 - Coping with medical errors in residency

Event date: Friday, October 09, 2009, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

This session will be held at 60 Murray St., 3rd floor, Classroom A, in the Cooper Medical Education Centre. This is located directly behind Mount Sinai and PMH.

This is the second of 3 patient safety modules included in the CRISP curriculum, and builds on the PGY1 session on Disclosure of Medical Error.  This year, we turn our attention to learning about how medical practitioners cope with making a medical error.  These "second victims" of medical error are often overlooked.  The main goal of this session is to provide you with an opportunity to discuss with your colleagues your own experiences with medical error.

Prior to the session, please take 10 minutes and read a short web-based commentary on how practitioners cope with medical error.

This session will be presented by Dr. Brian Wong, and co-facilitated by 4 senior residents in the core internal medicine program (Drs Luke Devine, Devon McDonald, Andrew Smaggus, and Ryan Van Wert).
