Candidate's Statement

The candidate's statement is intended to allow you to “speak” to the Department Promotion Committee concerning your achievements and its impact.  You are encouraged to provide a summary of your career history, key accomplishments and the impact of these accomplishments. Where teaching and education is the primary focus, the statement should incorporate your philosophy of teaching.

You may choose to create a free-standing document or in some instances the statement maybe incorporated into other documents you are required to prepare.

For instance, if you choose research as the predominate pathway, you may place your candidate's statement within your curriculum vitae, in section titled, "Academic History....Research Statement". It is your personal choice to do it in this section of your curriculum vitae or as a separate document but if your statement will be more than a page of content it is likely best managed as a separate document.

The candidate's statement may be interwoven into the CPA Introduction where CPA is the predominate pathway. Should the content of your statement extend your CPA Introduction beyond 2 pages, it is recommended you prepare a separate candidate's statement in addition to your CPA Introduction.
