Academic Achievements

Academic "achievement" is translated as "Excellence" or having "Impact". Through peer evaluation of the objective evidence, the impact of either a national or international reputation is determined.

The table below shows the required impact for the promotion rank.

All candidates are expected to be effective (competent) teachers. The Department of Medicine Teaching Effectiveness Committee assesses teaching competency for applications where the predominant pathway is achievement in research, CPA or education scholarship.

Academic achievement in teaching alone which is sustained over many years (usually considered 10 years minimum), can in itself justify eventual promotion.  In this instance, the candidate may request a waiver of external review.
