Your Curriculum Vitae is one of the most important and powerful documents in your promotion package. The document is reviewed by your peer evaluators, the Department of Medicine Promotion Committee and the Faculty of Medicine Decanal Promotion Committee. Please take time to complete all relevant sections of the WebCV.
The University of Toronto WebCV format aids the review process to ensure that the faculty member is fully and fairly evaluated. Most full and part time faculty in the Department of Medicine have access to WebCV, and will prepare their CV using this software application for their promotion CV. Please contact the Department of Medicine Business Officer should you not have access to WebCV.
For faculty who will not be using WebCV to create their promotion CV, please use the attached Microsoft version of the CV which follows the exact format of the online tool of WebCV.
Candidate's Role on Publications and Research Grants:
Senior Responsible Author (SRA) – initiates the direction of investigation, establishes the laboratory or setting in which the project is conducted, obtains the funding for the study, plays a major role in the data analysis and preparation of the manuscript, and assumes overall responsibility for publication of the manuscript in its final form.
Principal Author (PI) – carries out the actual research and undertakes the data analysis and preparation of the manuscript. (The Principal Author may also be the Senior Responsible Author.)
Co-Principal Author (CO-PI) – has a role in experimental design, and an active role in carrying out the research, is involved in data analysis and preparation of the manuscript. The project would be compromised seriously without the co-principal author.
Co-Investigator (CO-I) – Contributes to the research activities and participates in the publications.
Collaborator (COLL) or Co-Author (CA) – contributes experimental material or assays to the study, but does not have a major conceptual role in the study or the publication.
