Orientation for New Faculty

All new faculty members are required to participate in a day long orientation event within the first three years of appointment to ensure appropriate integration, advancement and career satisfaction in the Department of Medicine.  It is particularly important that new faculty understand Department expectations at the outset; especially, the requirements for three year review and pathways to promotion.

We believe it is vital our faculty understand and adopt whole-heartedly the mission of the Department. Similarly, understanding the principles behind the organizational structure of the Department, and its processes, is important if our members are to have input into decision-making and be informed of administrative actions.

Knowing who the productive people are in areas of special interest and who to network with will help new faculty engage meaningfully in our community and stimulate academic productivity. The event is followed by a social networking opportunity, hosted by the Department Chair, designed to bring new faculty members and their mentors together.
