Kaveh Shojania

Introduced in 2007, this award is designed to recognize outstanding leadership contribution made by a faculty member in the area of quality improvement and patient safety. The individual serves as a champion of the quality and safety agenda providing mentoring and leadership to students and faculty. An honorarium and commemorative certificate will be presented at the annual Department of Medicine Research and Education Day.

Introduced in 2007, this award is designed to recognize a medical student, postgraduate trainee or graduate fellow who has measured the gap between the ideal and actual performance of a clinical problem, developed an intervention to improve performance and designed a protocol to evaluate the intervention. Implementation and evaluation of the intervention is not a requirement of this award.  An honorarium and commemorative certificate will be presented at the annual Department of Medicine Research and Education Day.

Heather McDonald-Blumer & Rob Fowler

The William Goldie Prize and Travel Award was established in
1945 by an anonymous donor to honor the late Dr. William
Goldie, who held a faculty appointment in the Department
of Medicine. The prize, consisting of a commemorative
certificate, honorarium, and travel grant, is awarded annually
to a member of the Department who is within ten years of
appointment to the Department and who has made a
contribution of notable merit to the advancement of sound
knowledge in Internal Medicine” through research or teaching.
In recent years, two prizes have been awarded each year,
one for research contributions and one for teaching
contributions.
