At the end of this presentation – using autoimmune disease as an example – participants should be able to:

1.      Identify the most current methods used to define genes for risk and/or outcome of common disease;

2.      Describe the methods used to define the molecular pathway connecting a rheumatoid arthritis risk variant to development of disease; and

3.      Explain why this new molecular knowledge will impact on patient care.
