Learning Objectives:

1. Describe the history and current state of duty hour regulations across the globe;
2. Summarize the impact of resident duty hours on:
- resident well-being,
- delivery of educational programs,
- patient safety, and
- the health system; and
3. Adopt strategies to adapt residency education to duty hour restrictions.
