Preventing the Long Term Complications of Type 1 Diabetes:  Meeting the Challenge

OBJECTIVES

1.  To provide a perspective on the underlying biology of the complications of diabetes.
2.  To highlight the importance of early intensive diabetes management.
3.  To describe the phenomenon of metabolic memory and other clinically meaningful results of the DCCT/EDIC study.
