Dr. Maynard is Clinical Professor of Medicine, Chief of Hospital Medicine and Director of the Center for Innovation and Improvement Science at the University of California, San Diego. He is an international leader in patient safety and has conducted the most comprehensive study of the implementation of thromboprophylaxis in the hospital environment. He has also led the thromboprophylaxis implementation/quality improvement initiatives by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and by the Society of Hospital Medicine. He is an excellent speaker with a message for all healthcare providers. Despite the title, this is not just about VTE prevention – it’s about changing the culture of patient care.
